Who we are
We care about your privacy. We will not purposefully track any more about you than necessary (such as your name, email, or the URL that you used to leave comments on our site unless sign up or otherwise you agree to share data) for any longer than we say we will. Privacy violations are rampant on the Internet, so we do our best to protect our users. We do not sell anyone’s data to anyone, we are not data brokers.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Media
If you upload images to the website, then you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. When you close your browser, this cookie is discarded.
When you log in, we will set several cookies to save your login preferences and your screen display choices.
An additional cookie will be saved in your browser if you edit or publish an article. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited.
Embedded content from other websites
Embedded content from other websites (such as videos, images, articles, or other content) behave in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. If you are logged in to that website, then this can include tracking your interaction with the embedded content. We disable this content by default, but you may enable it by accepting cookies on our site or by interacting with the specific embedded content and accepting their cookies.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email so that you can determine whether a reset is from a legitimate source.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely by default. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. To have a comment removed, please contact at from the email used to make the comment and we will review your request.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot trivially change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
You can request an exported file of personal data we hold about your account. You can also request that we erase personal data we hold about you. Certain administrative, legal, or security data must be retained.
Where your data is sent
We do not generally make your data available to any system outside of our own systems. However, we may use automated spam detection on comments.
